Après réparation et réglage, j'ai pu découvrir le caractère exceptionnel de cet ampli.
Le canal clair est stupéfiant! Très chaud, les basses sont bien définies, les aiguës ne sont pas criardes, l'EQ est très efficace.. Bref, c'est réellement ce qui me plaît le plus avec cet ampli. Il y a de plus un petit switch "twang" qui, comme son nom l'indique, rappelle les sons cristallins du Twin Reverb Fender, ce qui est très réussi.
La puissance étant de 60W, on peut jouer à fort volume tout en conservant un son très clair et pur.

Le canal saturé permet d'obtenir des sonorités parfaites pour le blues, le rock, voire le hard-rock. Un canal Boost, commutable au pied, permet de relever la sauce de façon délicieuse pour un chorus/solo.
Le footswitch fourni avec l'ampli possède un bouton "2nd volume" permettant là encore de varier la dynamique de son jeu pendant un morceau. A noter que ce second volume est réglable à l'arrière de l'ampli à l'aide d'un potard dédié à cette fonction.
La reverb à ressorts est une accutronics "courte" dont les sonorités sont très réussies. Il est également possible de faire varier le taux de réverb entre les deux canaux, à l'aide d'un potard à l'arrière de l'ampli.
Petite parenthèse: il ne s'agit pas à proprement parler d'un ampli tout lampes. Le préampli est hybride transo/12ax7 (sur les deux canaux), une 12ax7 pour l'inverseur de phase et deux 6L6 pour la puissance (on se retrouve donc plus sur un ampli dans le genre des Music Man).
Pour conclure, cet ampli est d'une polyvalence incroyable et tranche avec avec les produits habituels de la marque. Je pense que c'est un ampli qui malheureusement méconnu et qui n'a pas su se faire une place parmi les amplis de sa catégorie.
Je joue de la funk, du blues, du reggae, du rock, du jazz, et ce combo est à l'aise dans tous ces styles. Je suis tombé littéralement sous le charme de cet ampli que je recommande fortement!

UTILISATION
L'utilisation de cet ampli est vraiment simple.
Pour avoir un bon son : c'est simple, il suffit de l'allumer... (ne pas hésiter à monter le volume.)
Le manuel est clair.
SONORITÉS
Alors là, au niveau son, l'ampli est vraiment bien.
Le son canal clean est très clair. Il permet de jouer énormément de style différents.
Pour le canal overdrive, le son est plus approprié pour le style rock/blues et même hard des années 70/80.
Ceci dit, en jouant avec l'égaliseur, on a une énorme palette de sons.
Perso, dans mon groupe, on fait du clapton, hendrix, ACDC, queen, dire straits, scorpions, etc... et l'ampli donne terrible...
J'ai eu l'occasion de tester d'autres amplis (Peavey classic, marshall valvestate, vox), et le Statesman est vraiment au-dessus du lot.
Franchement, au niveau son, cet ampli est à vous couper le souffle.
AVIS GLOBAL
J'ai acheté cet ampli fin oct 2008 (pour 1100 euros) et je ne le regrette pas le moins du monde.
Ce que j'aime le +:
- le son.
- le fait que pas mal de choses soit commutables par footswitch.
Ce que j'aime le -:
- il faut monter le son pour l'apprécier (tant pis pour les voisins...)
- le twang et le 2nd master ne sont pas commutables par footswitch (dommage)

These are not the super high gainers that most of there amps lean towards. These amps have a mild voicing for classic rock and blues based music. This is a four channel or two channel amp depending on how you look at it. You get a clean with a twang boost and then the overdrive channel with a boost. So to me this is a two channel amp with four settings.
This is a 60 watt amp that has a spring reverb unit inside and three band EQ. If you play classic rock or just need an amp with a good overdrive but not a hot rod tone then this is a great amp to have. This amp houses 6L6 power tubes and it gets a better clean sound and less of a midrange boost.

Then you click on the twang boost and then you get a nice boost in the highs and there you have perfect sparkle tone that doesn't just go with country but any style of music.

This is a good channel for the guys who just need a little gain that will compliment their guitars rather then a distortion that is just screaming. These are great amps for the simple player who loves tone. What I like about this amp is that the EL84 tubes makes this amp fit better with the voicing of the amp.
