This little combo by Laney amplification is a good little multiple channel amplifier for someone who needs a small little combo that doesn't have a whole lot of wattage. This is a 30 W all tube amplifier that has a clean in overdrive channel. These amplifiers are made in the United Kingdom and have that typical British tone in the distortion channel. It's a very easy amplifier to dial in if you've ever had any experience with any type of British amplifier.
UTILIZATION
The look of this amplifier is not very intimidating at all. It only has a few controls that allow you to dial in a decent clean and decent overdrive tone. You get a clean channel and an overdrive channel ans that is pretty much about it. There isn't that much to get in the way of your tone with added effects or modeling of any kind.
SOUNDS
If you're into classic rock sound this this is going to be a good amplifier for you. If you are determined to get that British tone that you would get out of the Marshall or a Orange amp then this will be right up there with those tones. It's nothing to be ultra high gain and it's certainly not a fender clean amplifier. The clean is pretty decent and it sounds more like a Vox clean or a plexi clean. The distortion channel is a mild break up very similar to eight Marshall at JCM 800 type tone. It's so it's going to get a little bit of dirt but not a very highly saturated tone.
OVERALL OPINION
Is it fun little combo is if you can find him in the used market and they don't cost a whole lot. This is not the kind of amplifier that you really going to spend a lot of time trying to find because there's not really anything at this amplifier does a lot of other Marshall or Orange amplifier's can't do and do it a lot better. If you're struggling to find a simple amp then I suggest just don't waste anymore time and buy a nice little orange combo which has a much better distortion my opinion or a Marshall combo from the 80s. The new marshall combos aren't very good anymore so I suggest getting one from the 80s or just biting the bullet and getting an orange amplifier combo. Those orange amplifiers are very will built and have a solid tone all the way through each channel.
