About The SuperTone I love offsets but NOT the issues inherent in their design. When I designed the SuperTone I wasn't trying to reinvent the wheel,..I wanted an offset with a look that you "thought" you'd seen before.. something that felt familiar, ..classic. What I didn't want was string buzz at the bridge and strings that jumped off the saddles. The fix was simple really, create a greater break angle over the bridge for more downward pressure against the saddles by moving the tremolo. assembly closer to the bridge. More sustain, less buzz,... usable instrument. Second,.. Offsets are generally too heavy at an average of like 8 to 10 lbs or more.! That's just a little too heavy to be played comfortably. So, first I made the body the size of a Strat instead of a Jazzmaster. Just because you elongate and stretch a shape doesn't mean you need to add another 2 pounds of lumber! So I kept the offset shape without making it larger. Then I used a larger route that provides for a ton of pickup options and allows it to be lighter. Most of my pickup options w/ this model attach thru the guard. This way I can use the best tone woods available and never be over 7 - 1/2 pounds. Third,.. A top jack mount that protrudes from the face of the guitar at a 90 degree angle just plain doesn't work without the appropriate cord so I relocated it at the side, like a Telecaster for example, where it won't break your pick guard or cord when you hit it. All these things coupled together make the SuperTone versatile, usable & a joy to play.
