Citation : Ortofon's new Elektro cartridge is their most well-rounded cartridge yet. The basic concept behind the Elektro is a combination of their Night Club and Scratch cartridges. The Night Club is Ortofon's best sounding cartridge and the Scratch has the best tracking ability for scratching. The Elektro combines the best features from both, with major improvements in the output (the Elektro is at 7.5mV- the highest of the Ortofon line) and construction. The Elektro is now the most durable Ortofon cartridge with a new rubber suspension designed to minimize the effects of rough handling (dropping the needle on the strobes, touching the stylus with your fingers, etc). Woody, who works in our store, has been a previous owner of the Ortofon Scratch cartridges and he's been testing the Elektros at home and at dj gigs for us, with early results backing up all of Ortofon's claims. They most likely aren't as good as the Scratch for pure scratching, but in all other respects the Elektro is Ortofon's best dj cartridge.
