1 Compatible sampleur Akai ?
Hello,

-----------------------------------

I had the same questions relating to mpcxl and USB and akai said that the 2000xl just dont work wit any type of USB media, they are 2 different animals. HOWEVER the way to, go is to get an external scsi zip drive from ebay, and a 25 ro 50 pin scsi cable, these items are both cheap on EBAY.

(Swhere I got all my scsi stuff CHEAP! Cuz your average computer store just dont sell scsi stuff any more everything is usb or firewire, or those blasted smart mediai cards)

Matter of fact since ive been where u are I went ahead and found some on ebay for a decent price.

Check these linx out.......
SCSI DRIVE- https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=11149&item=4125935704&rd=1

CABLE-https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=31494&item=3476827166&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

Hope that helpz!

Being that I'm new at all of this if I get the external zip to load and save on the MPC. How will I load the sounds from the Akai sound library cd into the MPC. I'm confused than a mutha@#$%^ Will I have to save them from the CD to a zip and if so what is the best way of doing this.

If you wanna use your PC/Mac w/ your MPC, I suggest that you get yourself an external SCSI Zip drive for the MPC and an internal or external USB/ATAPI Zip drive for the computer.

This is what I use. That way there is no switching of cables and what not between machines. There is danger messing with SCSi cables when you are a hurry. You will only be switching disks. And even there I use set of disks that are label "Transfer" and "Master."

The transfer disks go between my Mac and MPC. They store temp files while I move them from the computer and MPC and vice versa. The master disk never goes into the computer. It only stores/backs up the MPC files.

I also have a 1GB external SCSI Hard Drive attached to the MPC also, as an additional Master for backing up my sounds and sequences. You don't have to go there if you don't want to. But with the two Zips you should be coming in under a $100. Add a bunch of Zip disks and you may spend another $50 to $75. Look for cheap prices. I usually get old technology from eBay or from the used Mac sales folks who advertise on www.lowendmac.com

Peace and good luck.
