The Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi Deluxe is a distortion pedal that is best suited for electric guitar. The pedal is an analog one and has 1/4 connections for input and output. It isn't rack mountable as it is a stomp box.
UTILIZATION
Using the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi Deluxe isn't hard at all as all of the parameters are easily manipulated. The pedal has knobs for threshold, comp volume, fuzz volume, tone and sustain. It also has a switch for blending and the pedal has built in compression as well. I haven't seen the manual for the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi Deluxe so I can't comment on it, but I can say that I think you can get away without using a manual with this pedal.
SOUND QUALITY
The sound quality of the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi Deluxe is awesome. If you have ever heard any of the versions of the Big Muff, you know what these are capable of. This pedal has the grit and sound of the other Big Muffs, but with the added parameters comes more possible sounds and simply makes the pedal more versatile overall. I use the pedal with a Fender Strat and a '76 Fender Twin Reverb usually and I'm always happy with this set up because it gives me a huge distortion tone to go with a super clean amp sound. You really can't go wrong with the distortion from the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi Deluxe.
OVERALL OPINION
I've been using the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi Deluxe for a few years and this is one of my favorite models of the Big Muff. I like having the extra parameters as it increases the amount of tones that are possible with this classic pedal. The price is reasonable, although I believe that they no longer make If you are looking for a distortion pedal that will absolutely rip, the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi Deluxe is your new best friend.
