This is an American Stratocaster with a Rosewood Fretboard. Everything else is I think standard for American Stratocasters. It is equipped with three Single Coils and has the standard Tremolo Bridge.
I think the guitar is built pretty well. It's a Strat...Period.
UTILIZATION
The neck is made of Maple (standard) and feels very slick and at the same time gives a firm grip. What I like the most is that the strings don't feel too loose while the instrument itself plays like butter. Maybe I was lucky but my model vibrates very nicely. A lot of guitarists have told that my instrument feels 'special'...well isn't that nice?
The Pickups are nice too. That's about it. If you want more bite get the Texas Specials. I need to say though that I like the warmth of the Pickups. I use a '72 Twin and that Amp is already sharp enough. They are (like all single coils) a little noisy at times - but hey, it's rock n' roll!
SOUNDS
I use a Boss Twin-Pedal Delay, Line 6 Modulation Box, Korg Tuner, Tube Screamer, Blues Driver and a Vox Wah-Wah pedal. All this goes into my Fender Twin.
I love the sound - but then the Twin has a lot to do with that. I had it completely refurbished last year by a vintage pro.
I don't like the volume knob on this guitar. It feels nice and all but the high frequencies get cut much too early. So it's very tough to have the distortion up and dial back to get a nice, punchy clean sound. I will have this replaced.
OVERALL OPINION
I have played this guitar for two years now and they are built like tanks. I just love how they stay in tune and take beathing after beating.
This guitar is a workhorse. It definately has a better quality than a Mexican Strat (even though they are quite alright). I would definately buy this instrument again and although there are many other good guitars out there a Stratocaster still holds a special place in every guitar player's heart.
