UTILIZATION
Pretty excellent overall. Body is thick around the pickups, and tapers out at the edges for lightweight comfort.
The neck is very thin and comfortable, easy to get around, and top frets are accessible. Some might complain it is too thin for comfort, no baseball bat necks here. The frets are solid, and have stood up to years of heavy playing without significant wear.
The ZR tremelo is fantastic, affordable yet stable. Adjusting intonation from that point isn't the easiest thing in the world. Adjusting action is a breeze.
The wiring is pretty well done, and has held its own.
SOUNDS
The s470 is a very versatile guitar. I've used it on all kinds of amps, from Mesa Marks to vintage fenders. The HSH pickup configuration is excellent for achieving a wide variety of tones.
The pickups themselves aren't great, I would recommend an upgrade at some point.
The thickness of the body around the pickups is supposed to maintain sustain despite the overall thin body shape. Its no Les Paul, but isn't horrible either.
OVERALL OPINION
This was the first electric guitar I bought, and it still sees heavy use today. I spent a full day picking it out and have never regretted my choice. For the price that these go for (especially used), I cannot think of a better first guitar, in terms of sound, playability, and quality.
It is made in Korea (and I understand the quality of more recent models has diminished), so the wood is probably not great. But the neck is comfortable and durable, tremelo is stable, and it sounds great. With a good pickup change, you have a guitar that is capable of standing its ground alongside instruments worth more than twice as much.
