3. Important Notes and Known Issues
============================== ==============================
- Deck Caching
This new feature in Traktor 3.2 allows DJ's to remix tracks live
in ways not available in previous versions.
Care should be taken to ensure there is enough physical
RAM present in the system when selecting Cache sizes. Allocating too much RAM to caching will result in extremely poor
performance of the system affecting not just Traktor but also
the underlying operating system.
By default after installation Traktor 3.2 uses on 8MB
for all decks and you are free to set your cache sizes as you
see fit. To change cache sizes open Preferences | Deck
preferences | Transport. The amount of free Physical Ram is
shown below the Cache size buttons.
The value shown is the cache size for EACH deck, so choosing
32 MB for Deck A&B will use 64MB total for those decks. Using
256MB for all 4 decks will use a total of 1024MB.
DO NOT factor your pagefile or swapfile size into your calculations for Cache size.

512MB installed RAM
* 8MB for all decks (recommended)
* 32MB for decks A&B - 8MB for decks C&D (Maximum)
* 32MB or larger for all decks is not recommended due to
performance issues
--
1024 MB 1.0GB installed RAM
* 128MB for decks A&B - 32MB for decks C&D (acceptable)
* 128MB for all decks (recommended)
* 256MB for decks A&B - 8MB for decks C&D (maximum)
* 256MB for all decks or 256MB for decks A&B is not
recommended due to performance issues.
--
1.5 GB installed RAM
* 256MB for decks A&B - 128MB for decks C&D
(recommended / maximum)
* 256MB for all decks is not recommended due to performance issues
--
2.0 GB installed RAM (recommended)
* 256MB for all decks (recommended)
* Do not run other large Ram footprint applications concurrently
with Traktor
--
While its possible to install more than 2.0 GB ram into systems
running 32Bit operating systems there is limited value in doing
so. Systems with more than 3GB are not supported by windows 32
Bit. Contact Apple or Microsoft before adding more than the
recommended maximums
- MacTel Info
Traktor 3.2 is a free update for WinTel and PowerPC Mac users
who are properly registered and running any previous Traktor 3
version.
Intel Mac users must purchase a serial number for the new
universal binaries version. The serial number can be purchased
online in the store or online using the new Service Center
application.
- Traktor 3.2 uses a new authorization scheme not compatible to
earlier versions of Traktor. After authorizing Traktor 3.2 with
Service Center you will not be able to use earlier versions of
Traktor unless you re-authorize them with the old Registration
Tool.
- When connecting an iPod with many tracks the iPod symbol does
not show up instantly. It shows up only after all tracks on the
iPod have been scanned by Traktor - this can take a few
minutes.
- MAC: Native Instruments does not recommend, or offer technical
support for, using its products within the "Rosetta"
environment on Intel-based Macintosh computers.
The Traktor 3.2 release provides support for Universal Binaries
for both the MACTEL and POWERPC Apple platforms. This provides
superior performance compared to "Rosetta" and universal
binaries are supported by Native Instruments.
- MAC: The special character "/" in the pathname of your music
files causes the missing track message on MAC computers.
- MAC: When playing your tracks from an iPod connected to your
computer it is advisable to format the iPod as FAT32 because
may have difficulties with Mac formatted iPods.
- MAC: When using the aggregated built-in device (usually called
"built-in input (aggregated)" you have to connect your audio
cables to the headphones jack *before* starting Traktor.
Plugging or unplugging the headphones jack while Traktor is
running will stop Traktors audio engine and you need to restart
the application.
