I have 2 AT831 in stereo configuration also sold by Sound Professionals as SP-CMC-2; also they have been modded with 4.7K resistor to handle high pressure situations.
they can be drived without 9/12v by 2 recorders, Sony PCM M10 and Marantz PMD620.
I use a 9v battery box made by Church Audio BAT-2B.
ther are small enough to be put on glassed or hat during stealth recordings
