i think it sounds very good, but obvoiusly i've no comparison to the original
certainly it offers a better and modern connectivity in front of the original
i'm trying to forget that it's a re edition, and want to consider it as a bass synth,it's sound can be emulated with other gears with many kind of results, but
the essentials knobs are well dislocated, the metal case seems comforting,it comes
with a lot of assignables effects(overdrive seems to me decent, delay is good only
setted to low feedbacks in my personal opinion),maybe the miniature volume knob on the rear panel goes wrong since the tb has mix in to play it without
a mixer connection.
the display is minimal but is a must to program it quick in original mode, personally i don't program in step mode,i don't know why (roland d2 that i own is very similar note rest tie)
i like the sequencer and the pattern chaining that certainly allows to call it bass line since you can write long sequences, for it's price there's a lot of memory and you can play your patterns in every combination you want once experienced to programming it
once you got it the temptation to insert this ''voice'' in everything you compose
is irresistble,it's nice also to play it via midi keyboard
the acidic will of tb03 is great but when i tryed to program the same sequence on
d2 it seems that the orange one is more punchy and better overdriven /delayed/reverbered just to test the internal effects
consider that for the same sequence the d2 took three time to programming in front of tb 03
that's my opinion but i've no comparison with tb-303 bass bot xoxbox or other clones
it's possible to play a realistic non acid bass too,i can't forget that in the 80'sit was concepted as a virtual bass player,so why not to try on this job?
the sequencer of tb is dynamic and quick to program once you get experienced,i think it the best feature of this synth
