1 Problème IC14 = Pas de sons sur
Bonjour à tous,

j'ai un problème avec mon DX7 version JME SPX Rev1 : Les sons internes ne se chargent pas.

Lorsque je sélectionne 'Internal" pour avoir accès aux patches, l'affichage bug et il me mets des barres horizontales sur l'écran. En revanche, lorsque je sélectionne les sons Cartridge, tout fonctionne correctement.

Lorsque je lance la procédure de test, il est écrit : FOR TEST MODE CHANGE ROM IC14...
Je l'ai ouvert, j'ai enlevé la carte JME SPX installée sur la PCB mère puisqu'elle est pluggée sur l'IC14, j'ai inspecté mais je n'ai rien trouvé de suspect. Je l'ai remise en appuyant bien. Mais évidemment, cela n'a pas changé grand chose.

J'avais trouvé qq'un avec un problème similaire sur un autre forum et il avait essayé de retrouver les IC originales et les remettre. J'hésite à faire pareil sauf si quelqu'un a une idée sur ce qui pourrait remettre sur pied mon DX7.

Bonjour,

Have you measured your battery? Sometimes low battery can cause strange problems. In my experience, most of the issues with expansion cards comes down to bad connections to the main board, so pressing down on it like you did is often a good fix.

If you wish to put the original chips back in (to run the test program or to give up repair), make sure you use the original SRAM 5118. 6116 type will NOT work.

PS. If anyone has a BIN file for the v2.6 of JME SPX, I would be interested to obtain it.

Yep, I've measured the battery, it seems ok (2,8v).
I did try again, removing, putting back and pressing the expansion card but unfortunately it did not change anything...
In fact, the DX7 was working great a couple of months ago, but suddenly I got those weird signs on the screen when booting it.
Since then, I'm stucked.

Let me know if you have other ideas...

Yeah that voltage is OK. Make sure you measure it on a RAM chip, like between Gnd and Vbatt right on the SRAM.

Maybe try pressing the board down while booting it? If you can operate it with one hand pressing, try loading the sounds into RAM from a good cart. Other than that, it's a bad pin or a bad or rarely, a bad SRAM.

I end up buying the originals IC 20, 21 and a Spécial Édition ROM (SER-7) IC14.
Will try those and let you know what happens.
