A Transwave is a single "waveform" made up of a series of sequential wavetables. These wavetables evolve over time from one wave to another. Some Transwaves have dramatically different wavetables that produce a rhythmic effect, rather than an evolution of the sound. "Transwaves remove a major limitation of wavetable synthesizers, that is the waveform being played is usually static and has no change in harmonic structure over time, other than by filtering it. Transwaves allow a sound to evolve subtly or dramatically, slowly or quickly over time, producing a richly animated, complex sound," says Bob Yannes, ENSONIQ chief engineer.

Transwaves are a unique Ensoniq invention. Imagine a large waveform made up of 128 smaller waves placed end to end. When you hit a key, the EPS/ASR just loops on one of the smaller waves. Upon using any modulator, you can then "step" through the different waves, enabling fantastic performance features.

Imagine having a wave which has a pulse wave resonanting from low to high, and "stepping" through it using velocity, or the mod wheel, or the LFO. It's possible with Transwaves.

Starting with the EPS 16-Plus, Ensoniq created the Transwave Modulation that makes this possible. Unfortunately, if you try it on just any waveform, most likely you'll get clicks, resulting from the smaller waves not matching up with each other.

vous voulez savoir ce que c'est ou comment ça marche ? parce que dans le premier cas c'est expliqué sommairement précedemment, dans le second, c'est achti compliqué à expliqué ça avec un clavier… et sans le mode d'emploi… hein Shariff… :clin: mais bon, je fini ce que je suis en train de faire là (y a une vie après AFZ, si si) et je m'y colle…

Wwwwwhhhhaaaaa!!!!!! :P: ça m'a l'air facile à mettre en oeuvre. C une autre facette du moule à gauffre qui va me donner du fil à retordre. En tous cas plus j'avance dans cette machine plus j'la Kif, même si je suis loin d'être OP dessus (ça change du esi 4000; de la 60 et du s950).

Perso, concrèetement, j'ai jamais compris la différence avec la wavetable du ppg et autres waldorf ?

Avoir des séquences d'onde, et jouer dessus, c'est le principe des PPG et Waves, il me semble.
