Daxophone, musical instrument to invent magical sounds
WHO NEEDS THIS
The Daxophone was born as an experimental instrument, it was frequently used in Jazz music.
There are numerous original albums of its inventor, composed exclusively with Daxophone.
Currently it is used for creating sound effects in movies and video games.
Several bands also use the Daxophone to distinguish their performances with originality.
HISTORY OF DAXOPHONE
An original invention by Hans Reichel (1949-2011).
The name was changed to make echo to the saxophone by Adolphe Sax, but derives from the German word dachs, which means "badger" in reference to the incredible variety of sounds similar to animals (and not only), which is able to generate .
The Daxophone belongs to the family of idiophones, namely all the instruments that produce their sound without the help of any other sistem (for example, ropes, membrane, air shaft).
DAXOPHONE COMPONENTS
The daxophone is made up of:
-Tongue for effects, which is rubbed by a bow or beaten to produce an incredible sound.
-Dax, Which is a handheld wedge which acts as a mobile keypad modulating the sound of the tab.
-A Body resonator provided with contact microphone to which are screwed the tongues, on the bottom it is equipped with a 1/4 nut to be mounted on a classic photographic tripod.
HOW DOES IT WORK
Once installed the Daxophone and chosen the tongue, different ways to produce sounds.
1- Rubbing the tongue with a bow for musical instruments
2- beating it with hands, drumsticks or something else
3- The inventor also used combs or a mini fan
The sounds produced by these methods, are modulated using Dax which is an oval and mobile keyboard that has two sides, one smooth and one fretted like guitars.
Then, simply press the Dax on the tongue, and changes the pressure to also change the pitch.
Someone also use slide guitar instead of Dax.
