Citation : Since '85, David has been using EMG active pickups with boost control. They're essential to his 80's and 90's sound, sounding a bit like humbuckers but with the bright edge of single-coils. You can buy David's own custom set from EMG, the DG-20. I strongly suggest that you try these before buying and decide which period you prefer. The EMG's are not very versatile and it can be hard getting the full authentic 70's sound.

- A 1970 black alder body a with a '64 Fender rosewood/maple neck and early 70's Fender pickups. It was fitted with a DiMarzio FS-1 bridge pickup for the North American leg of the tour. - see more details below

Citation : 1979-83. David also used the guitar on The Wall recording sessions and tour. Now the DiMarzio was taken out and the guitar had a Charvel flamed maple neck (with a fake Fender logo). The tremolo arm was shortened and a switch was installed to combine the bridge and neck pickups..

- 2003 and present. The guitar was last seen on the Dark Side of the Moon documentary and the Live 8 reunion. David is also using it on “On an Island”. Now the guitar has a Fender '57 reissue neck, like his red Strats.
