Sujet P1 ou P2 - Est ce que l'Enhancer/deeser vaut le coup ?

A: 'the Brick' original (1996)
1/2 rack width, 2U height. This featured a transformer mic pre, compressor and enhancer. This was a truly wonderful unit. All were very much hand made, in a small garage in Newton Abbot by 3 people that were Fletcher Electro... aaah,.. The room was shared with a man who distributed confectionary to local tourist attractions! The unit was a pain to build, but sounds fantastic.

'Gold line' 1998 The next version of VC1 is a full 2U. This had a different gain structure, with more compression, and the addition of an attack control. Added an insert point, and instrument inputs, and source switch. For some reason, I have to admit, didn't quite have the magic of the original!

'Blank' 1999 - This version has an all black artwork, and was very similar to the above product. Again, an altered gain structure means it is slightly different to use, but basically sounds the same. The biggest difference is in the enhancer... This one uses a different IC at the core, giving a less brittle sound.

VC1Q 2000- The next big overhaul was the addition of EQ. This unit added an equaliser to the unit to great effect. Also, the enhancer became a sort of de-esser. This was a really great unit... Although a common criticism is that there is literally too much gain at the front end, and the lack of a PAD made it impossible to use with some mics in some situations!

VC1QCS 2001- Probably the best version.. This replaced the transformer hybrid 2017 pre with the very first of Ted's famous CurrentSense pre. Other than this, identical.
