Local synth dealer here in Finland states that (roughly translated):
DAW integrable Se-02 sound editor (available fall 2017).
So it seems that some kind of VST sound editor plugin is coming.

"this was my first Boutique, and my big fingers are just not a good match for those tiny knobs and the layout in general. Again this is just a purely personal reason but it was kind of a big one when I kept fumbling around and hitting the wrong thing over and over.
It actually made me wish that some vendor would start making "Macro" synths with GIANT knobs, with a really nice ball-bearing mechanism to feel the weight, like the Source knob on steroids or something. (imagine the MS-20 Blackboard synth here)
For it to stay something would have had to leave, and I just couldn't find a way that made that practical. It's a great synth though and sounds fantastic!
PS: Preset 20 has some amazing low end bass that actually matched the OSCar in frequency response, and preset 120 was so awesome that it inspired me to try and dial in the same sound on the OSCar, which I came pretty close but couldn't quite hit.

Tried the Se-02 again at the store but this time for a good 30 minutes with my headphones, so I got to really explore it. Gotta say, I'm smitten by it. I can deal with the knobs (I have a JX-03) but I don't like the stiff waveform/range knobs. Not a dealbreaker though.
My JX-03 can get pretty out there with sounds but the Se-02 takes it a whole 'nother level. Gonna have to decide between my AS-1 and it. Love the computer editor for the AS-1 - so easy to create great patches and sequences - and I love the arp/presets/menu of the AS-1. I feel it also does better on cleaner sounds the AS-1. But while the AS-1 can get growly, the Se-02 blows it away in the growl department. The Sonic Youth-ish sounds I got out of the Se-02 left my jaw on the floor. I honestly might have to just have both of the synths.

S'il n'y a pas de solution, c'est qu'il n'y a pas de problème.

"I didn't feel like doing any more side by side sound recordings, so I took my SE-02 apart and took some pictures, and then I put it back together and recorded the factory songs that are included with it. There are two "songs" total, and they make use of switching patches, different sequencer options, and even some parameter sequencing, which is neat if you're into that.
Here's the entire album

If you don't like soundcloud, here's the dropbox link
The Minimoog and the SE-02 are both a lot of fun and I could recommend both of them if they're within your budget. They are definitely not the same, but can be similar with some thoughtful programming. They both have pros and cons. One of them is exorbitantly expensive, but also iconic, so there's that. Let me know what you think about the results. Thanks."
